Employment check status override

Going off feedback, the Product Team was made aware of an issue when managing employment verification checks within VNet.

Specifically, when a client changed the status of an employment check from 'Review' to 'Completed' or vice versa, the overall order status unexpectedly changed to 'In Progress.'

This unexpected change is attributed to the system's automatic rule, triggered when some employment experiences fail to meet the minimum verification criteria count. This behaviour occurs despite any prior manual status updates.

The system now maintains the employment experiences status as 'Completed' or 'Review' based on the user's manual changes, even if individual employment verifications never meet the minimum criteria count.

Enhance Employment Response Fields in Candidate Reports

To ensure that relevant employment response details are accurately displayed in candidate reports, we have now added two new pieces of information:

Please add more details: The “please add more details” field on VNet related to the "Reason for leaving" field is added to the candidate report, capturing the additional details related to the candidate's employment history.

Reason for ineligible for rehire: The “Reason for ineligible for rehire” related to the field "Eligible for rehire" field is also included in the candidate report, as long as the candidate answers “No” to “Eligible for rehire”

Capturing employment gaps longer than 1 month

In the past, we were only capturing employment gaps with more than 3 months, but we are now requiring justification from candidates when we detect gaps longer than 1 month.

Detecting employment gaps before candidate submission

We've recently identified a scenario where our system may fail to detect employment gaps accurately. Specifically, there were cases where candidates met the minimum employment duration requirement set by the client across multiple job entries, but a gap in employment history still existed.

To address this issue, we implemented a new guideline: Even if a candidate meets the minimum criteria, they cannot proceed without addressing any employment gap exceeding one month. The system will now highlight any identified gaps during the verification process.

Detecting employment gaps through VNet

Moreover, this guideline applies uniformly, including when adding employment information through VNet. It's important to note that users must click to proceed for the system to detect and highlight any gaps, as data is not saved while they are inputting information.

Additionally, an alert will now appear on VNet when attempting to add or update employment responses on behalf of the candidate. If a gap is identified between subsequent employment experiences, users will be prompted to address and fill the gap before proceeding. This ensures thorough documentation of the candidate's employment history.

While we believe this is the only way to guarantee that all gaps will be explained, whether inserted through the candidate form or through vnet, we will work with the employment verification team on the best solution possible.

This gives you a huge advantage when considering who to hire. Background checking also ensures that candidates are legally allowed to carry out certain roles, failed criminal and credit checks could prevent them from working with vulnerable people or in a financial function.
